Out of the Office
As self-confessed data geeks you’d be forgiven for thinking we prefer to stay in the office and hide from people, but we’re not your average data marketers in more ways than one! In the last couple of weeks it's been all about the networking on our doorstep, attending the big Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce events, enjoying the social scene and talking business. It’s been a busy time and we’d like to share what we’ve been doing.
So, which events have we been attending and why? Well, on 5th September we attended the Northamptonshire Business Awards. A fantastic evening organised by the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce to celebrate outstanding businesses in the local area. Those of you who have been paying close attention will have noticed that we were named as finalists in the Small Business of the Year category.
This was our first awards evening as a company and we are immensely pleased and proud to have been a part of these awards. Just in case you didn’t follow the action live on the night, haven’t caught the numerous posts or do not have the pleasure of being connected to Sunny on LinkedIn, sadly we did not win in our category of Small Business of the Year. However, you may be surprised to hear that we’re ok with that. Did we want to win? Of course! We’re actually quite competitive, especially as we’re incredibly proud of our business and what we’re capable of. However, we were 1 of 3 finalists out of over 50 entrants in our category. It was a huge achievement to get that far. The calibre of everyone involved was incredibly high and for our first attempt at an award I have to say that we are thoroughly chuffed to have been finalists. The Northamptonshire Business Awards are a prestigious event and to be honest, finalist feels like winner from where we’re sitting.
Next on the list of huge events was the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce Business Exhibition on Friday 13th September. This brilliant event was held at Franklins Gardens and showcased some of the best and brightest businesses in Northamptonshire, ourselves included! The date may be considered unlucky for some, and it’s true that I’ve yet to be announced as the winner for any of the prize draws I entered, but for us it was a great day of interacting with like-minded people and seeing what we can all do to help each other. We set up bright and early with all our information to hand and our own coffee maker to entice people in (although I have to say that Chris did seem to be making the most of it throughout the day as well). Not only was it a successful day but we had a lot of fun being involved and are looking forward to announcing the winners of our own prize draw over the next few days.
It’s fair to say it’s been a busy month so far and we’ve still nearly two weeks before we’re in October! Did any of you attend the same events this month? Did you enjoy them? We’re interested to know what everyone got out of the events and what their favourite aspects were, let us know in the comments.
